Sowilo literally means “sun,” a name that appears in all three of the old rune poems. One of those poems describes the sun as a source of hope for sailors crossing the sea, guiding them safely to land. That’s the heart of Sowilo: life-giving warmth, energy, and the light that shows you the way forward. In rune readings it’s seen as one of the most positive signs, a beacon of success and a reminder of the strength that comes from within.
